In 2010, I set out for the ghost town of Rhyolite, Nevada with my wet plate darkroom and a need to exist in the desert. The ghost town of Rhyolite is adjacent to Death Valley. The residency that housed me, Goldwell, gave me a place to work out of, and I tramped around that lonesome valley, where the silence was the loudest I had ever heard.
